York Auction Centre had 105 head of stock through the market including 67 store cattle and 38 calves.

TOP PRICES

Calves sold to £1060 for a Charolais X Bull calf from N P & G L Turnbull.

Heifers sold to £2150 for a British Blue from H W Colley & Son LTD.

Steers sold to £2015 for a British Blue from S & H Cheetham.

Another super days trading, and although not just as many store cattle forward, trade remained as strong as ever and smaller cattle looked dearer still on the week!

A good show of fresh calves and stirks started the day with maybe the dearest trace seen yet! Bull stirks topped at £1060/ head for a trio of Charolais x bulls from N P & G L Turnbull and a trio of British Friesian x bulls from the same home sold to £790/ head! Heifer stirks sold to £885 from D Proctor, closely followed by a well-presented BRBx heifer from I & A Broadhead at £845! A quality show of fresh calves were a joy to sell with A Burgess topping the trade at £645 for a 4-week-old Lim x heifer and H L T E & O P Smith topped the bulls at £625, a 4-week-old British Friesian bull from the same home flew away to £505! Plenty more could have been sold!

In the big ring, 67 store cattle sold to £2015 for a well grown BRBx steer from S & H Cheetham, and Mark Colley topped the heifers with a string BRBx reaching £2150. It has to be said that trade of the day was a pen of 3 nice grazing simx steers from G & A Ellis selling to £1290/ head or a staggering £5 a kilo! Other consignments of lighter cattle sold to £1740/ head for a pair of Charolais steers and a trio of Lim x from monument farm looked well sold at £1300/ head. More cattle needed for next week!
